The European Expression Youth was invited to attend the seminar “Boosting innovation and entrepreneurship in Greece-Leveraging competences and assets”, with a delegation of 20 young people, mostly unemployed. Among them, was Kostantinos Fasoulis, member of our organization participated to the panel, giving his views on the issues of labour, unemployment, innovation and development in Greece.
One of the main goals of “Europe 2020” is to achieve entrepreneurial activity as it is a key driver of economic growth, creation of jobs and development. ALDE’s MEP Jorgo Chatzimarkakis hosted the seminar, aiming to raise awareness of this crucial topic as it provides for a real opportunity particularly for Greece, to overcome the crises. The seminar that took place on Wednesday 5 December 2012 (European Parliament, Room PHS 5B001, Brussels), sought a political framework which allows converting innovative ideas into thriving businesses, promoting interactions of government, university, industry and civil society and further sharing facilities and exchange of knowledge, is necessary more then ever before. Thereby, the role of the European Social Fund is crucial in order to boost an innovative business environment that ensures employment and growth.
Beyond Jorgo Chatzimarkakis who offered the welcome remarks, in the seminar also spoke László Andor, EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Bruno Robino, Head of Region – Southern Countries Regional Business Development, European Investment Fund, Elias G. Carayannis, Professor of Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, George Washington University and Phedon Codjambopoulo, Vice-President of the German-Hellenic Business Association.
